Out Of The Psychic Closet by Toby Heathcotte Beautiful & InspiringThis is a book of believing in yourself and finding the courage to look deeper into your self to find your own truth.Toby suffered a deep loss as a young child; a good friend was killed in a car accident. When the image of her deceased friend came to Toby to tell her she was alright, Toby’s mother denied such an image was possible. For years Toby struggled with the ability to believe in herself or what she had seen or felt on that day. To believe in such things, let alone talk about them, would bring feelings of doubt and fear from others, especially those very close to her.Even though the journey was a difficult and sometimes lonely one, Toby found the strength within herself to find her truth. To search out what she believed to be true and find peace with that knowledge. This is a book of her struggle to understand her gift and to make peace with it in order to bring knowledge to others. Toby was plagued with death in her family through out her young life and into her adulthood and believed at a young age that death and dying should be something to fear. Through her own research and determination, Toby has found that this is not true. Her book Out Of The Psychic Closet brings a very comforting understanding to a gift that many are either afraid of or unwilling to believe in. Toby follows up her belief with in depth examples and research to sustain the facts she has written about. But this is also a story about a woman's thirst for knowledge about herself and no matter the emotional or mental cost to Toby, she continued to look for and understand her own inner truth. Once she was able to believe in herself, life and her gift took on a new direction, one of inner peace.I connected with Toby on so many levels through out her book. I recommend Out Of The Psychic Closet to all who are in search of understand their own gifts and willing to make the first step to say, “I am not afraid.” We all in some form or another have that little voice guiding us, giving us direction; it is up to us to listen.A great book that gave me goose bumps, and moments of reflection of happenings like those, Toby wrote about, in my own life. A must read

Heathcotte is an excellent writer. Her book is well-organized, full of researched information, and cuts to the core of ideas. It's well-documented with numerous resources for future research by the reader if he/she wishes.I personally don't believe in reincarnation and my definition of "spiritual growth" is different than Ms. Heathcotte's, but irregardless of my personal beliefs, I found her memories and information fascinating to read. I have always wondered about New Age beliefs, and this book covers every topic about New Age beliefs. If you are interested in reading about telepathy, psychic development tools, channeling, precognition, dreams, near-death experiences, reincarnation, spirit guides, then you will really enjoy this book.

This is a short book that I read in two sittings. What is really nice about this book is that the author has included her own story about her "paranormal experiences" in the first part of the book, which is very brave (just think about the title - "out of the closet"). Kudos to Toby!In the second part of the book she includes an organized list of different kinds of experiences which she defines, as well as a list of books the reader can further use to find out more about these phenomena. What is very respectable is that in a section about hearing voices she gives the recommendation to find a qualified medical professional, in case the experience may be a mental illness.I could tell that she's more comfortable giving readers information than telling her own story, which is understandable as she is a trained and experienced educator. It is also comforting to read about her experiences knowing that they have happened to someone who is logical, educated, and professionally established. There is some interesting stuff included in this book. I would recommend it for anyone experiencing a paranormal event and wanting to find out more; also for writers/authors who may want to expand their own creative repertoire within the genres of paranormal or the speculative.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Toby writes about her life-long experiences with psychic abilities and how she finally learned to accept them. The second section describes the various types of abilities in an easy to read and understand format. She adds scientific studies and stories from others she has met over the years.A great book for anybody with abilities or who want to develop their abilities.
