4.5 StarsBanished on assignment to Oklahoma with a guy that she really just can’t stand, Charlotte Blake feels as if she is paying a heavy price for a moments lapse in concentration but when your career is effectively on the line you just have to suck it up I suppose or at least that’s what she thought.Luke was everything she really couldn’t stand, a self-absorbed playboy who in her opinion isn’t worth the time she has to devote to him, while he on the other hand is sure she has a stick stuck so far up her a$$ that she doesn’t know the meaning of the word relax. But they both have ulterior motives, they both have a point to prove …and not only too each other. I admired Charlotte’s enthusiasm and her absolute dedication to her job, but did the powers that be see what she did? I was also taken a little by surprise that Luke felt like he needed to show his family, namely his dad that he could hold down his position and complete the task that was set for him, his father had a pretty low opinion of him and he was all about changing that perception for good…but could he cut it?They really were poles apart, Luke revelled in his freedom, the opportunity to cut loose, taking very few things seriously but Charlotte on the other hand was all about the being a grown up, all about her job, and her family namely her brother but making this project work meant trying to find some common ground, trying to find a way for them both to get what they wanted. Could they manage to pull off the impossible or would they throttle each other in the process? I was beginning to think that this was all headed south but there was just something about the pair of them that hooked me in.I found the characters really easy to understand, the author laid them out in such a way as it wasn’t difficult to fall for the pair of them. Yes, they had their emotional issues and as you would expect those issues played a really big part in who they were now, but I liked the fact that the author was willing to devote a lot of time to making sure that I had everything I needed to be able to understand what was going on.The book was really well written and the characters were perfectly developed but of everything I would have to say that the author attention to detail was the star of the show!

*****5-star read*****“Only regret those things you didn’t fight for.”You never know the pain that a smile can mask. Twenty-six-year-old Charlotte Blake knows this fact better than most. She has learnt to roll with the punches but has lost the essence of who she is along the way. Focused and driven, she is afraid to let anyone past her defences and as a result, her walls have walls.Sent to the U.S. on a three-month secondment to negotiate a lucrative deal with her arch nemesis, Luke Dexter does not a happy Charlotte make! As the son of one of the firm’s Directors’ and a notorious player, Luke epitomises everything Charlotte despises. How can they present a united front when she can barely even be civil? What is they say about judging a book by its cover? Ice Princess? Privileged Prince? Umm, no!! So, you catch my drift?I think I experienced every emotion whilst reading this book and I absolutely loved the banter between Char and Luke. From their initial denial to the attraction between them, to the realisation of what they could have together, I was right there with them. There were so many stand out moments for me in this well-written story. With a host of secondary characters to love and hate. Especially Luke’s mum. She’s a hoot. She had me lol’ing when she says:“…. my little boy is going to bring a girl home to meet his mummy.”I was a total goner for Luke though. My ovaries exploded when he tells Charlotte:“I’m your person.”I was also in real danger of lobbing my kindle at the wall on a few occasions. The ending had me on the edge of my metaphorical seat and I was in desperate need of a vodka to steady my nerves – I kid you not! Needless to say I wasn’t a pretty sight when I finished. Lots of sappy grins and snotty tears. What can I say! I’m an emotional reader. This was the first book I’ve read by this author and it will by no means be my last!!

3.5 - 4 star rating.Okay, so I feel a bit torn with this book. I ended up looking at it in two different ways, the first 100 or so pages were great, along with the last 50 pages, but what was in the middle was frustrating and long in my opinion. Loved the premise of the book, playboy hottie (Luke) who is also the son of one of the executives at the company he works for, ends up having to come to the states with the "boring" and quiet, but very strong minded woman (Charlotte) to negotiate a contract with a company in Oklahoma. Both don't like each other much, which makes for some interesting conversation and living situation once they hit Oklahoma. Loved CJ and Jake, they added a lot to the story, the Mayor was an idiot. The issue I have with the length of the book was Charlotte became irritating after a while. Trust me, I've been through loss, and I know everyone handles it differently, but after losing her parents 8 years before, and for it to completely stifle her life after awhile just got old. And to not tell anyone because she didn't want pity was ridiculous. I think the author could have shaved about 100 pages off this story and it would have been perfect. Don't get me wrong, I love long books that have a great story to engross myself into and get lost into the characters, but this one was just too long and really consisted mostly of how Charlotte couldn't deal with feelings because of her parents tragic loss. This is my first book from this author, and I will definitely read others, just hope that it doesn't drag on in the middle the way this one did. I still gave this a strong 3.5 - 4 rating because of the overall story, absolutely loved the ending, definitely brought a tear to my overly romantic eyes and heart.

What happens when quite, career oriented is thrown together with a loud, arrogant playboy? Fireworks by the plenty, changes in attitudes and plenty of stream. When Charlotte Blake zones out in a meeting with her superiors, what the worst that can happen? You get sent thousands of miles away with a guy you can’t stand. Oops. Luke seems as impressed as Charlotte about the assignment set out for them, he sees her as a stuck up, workaholic. However, they both have something to prove, Charlotte that she is the best at her job, and Luke needs to prove to his father he is not a complete screw up. Charlotte and Luke are opposites in every way, he likes to have fun, sometimes too much fun. She likes to focus on work and her brother, nothing else really factors into her life. That is until they are sent off to Oklahoma together where they must live and work together on what could be a career boosting project for their high profile firm. This is the first book I have read by Hayley Oakes, it will definitely not be the last. You can’t help but fall in love with her characters from the off. They are both well written and you get drawn to them, you can feel the emotional battles they have as if they were happening in front of you. Both of the characters histories play an important factor in how the pair have ended up in their current lives and situations, and these back stories are perfectly explained throughout the book. I look forward to reading other works by this talented lady.

This was a delightful read, I was totally absorbed, hubby came upstairs and said that must be a good book as you've not moved from bed.....I love an opposites attract book, as you generally find they're not as opposite as you think. In this book we have two people that have misjudged one another, they are thrown together in a foreign country on a work project, what could go wrong? Or right! I loved Dex he was 'real' warm and entertaining and a touch delicious but not perfect. Char is definitely not perfect, she's career minded, uptight, almost OCD in routines, watching her walls fall and seeing her blossom was great, I was pleased she never sacrificed her intelligence or work ethics, just had fun and saw the man behind the bravado."You're actually a good guy Luke Dexter." I said quietly."And you are not an unfeeling android but I won't tell anyone if you don't?" he smirked, bumping me lightly with his shoulder. This book gave me the feels, I had a tear in my eye a time or two."It's not just sex Char, I love how sharp you are, how clever you are, how fucking good you are at your job... " Luke goes on and it's really moving. The relationship developing between Char and Luke is sweet and sexy, but we have some angst thrown in to make it interesting and let's face it real, life is full of stress and angst! This isn't the first book I've read from this author, she writes very real characthers that you can connect with and this book is a great read.4.5 opposites attract starsARC REVIEW

Charlotte is a woman who knows what she wants in life and how to go about getting it. Take it as her being snobbish if you want but don't take her for a fool. Her parents died in a car wreak and she was left to raise her younger brother. Now he is in college and she is wanting to advance her career. Luke was raised with a golden spoon he doesn't know what it's like to have to work for anything let alone struggle. Yet he wants to prove to his dad he can handle the task at hand. He takes everything with a grain of salt and jokes around. His personality rubs Charlotte the wrong way. They are forced to travel and work together on a deal in the US....I really liked this story. I love how 2 people who you don't think would work find each other let down their walls and fall for one another. This book was very well developed and detailed. This was definitely a great read. One of the best I've read this month.

Charlotte Blake and Luke Dexter worked together and could barely stand each other. They are horrified to discover they were being sent oversees together for the company. They are going to Oklahoma for 3 months to try and work on obtaining a contract. Worse yet upon arriving they find out their living arrangements are a little closer to each other than they expected. Living and working closely gives them the opportunity to realize that maybe they have been to hasty in their impressions of each other. In the friendly area where they are staying more of Char and Luke's true personalities come out. They actually end up becoming quite close but what will happen when they return home. Things take a turn for the worse when Luke returns to his friends and a world Char feels uncomfortable in. This book totally sucked me in and I had a hard time putting it down. I hope to read more from this author in the future.* I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked the premise of this book and it didn't disappoint at all. I loved the sarcastic banter between Luke (Dex) and Charlotte. She was really uptight for a 26 year old but knowing her circumstances I could see why, whereas he was really laid back and waited for everything to come to him easily as it had always done. After working at the same firm for some time they suddenly find themselves having to work together to close a deal in the USA, where they are living together for 3 months. For such opposites neither can see it working but it actually does. They settle into a routine and they each start to see the other beneath the surface and their relationship develops from colleagues to friends and finally to lovers. I loved the characters and the story and how it all pulled together. It was beautifully written and I highly recommend it. I will definitely read this author again.

Hayley is a new to me author and one I'm instantly in love with. Completely enraptured from start to finish. This book is really well written and the characters really draw you in.Charlotte is sent to Oklahoma as penance for a momentary lapse in judgement at work and she's sent there with Luke a self-absorbed playboy she really doesn't like. They both have made judgements on each other and they need to survive without killing each other in the process whilst proving something to their families.I always enjoy the opposites attract books as there is so much fun that can be written into them and fireworks are always guaranteed and this author did not disappoint. Their emotional battles really draw you in and you can't help but feel their emotions with them.⭐️I was extremely lucky to receive an ARC copy of this book from the Author ⭐️

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and I was not disappointed. I was captivated and enthralled from the very beginning. Luke is a spoilt, flirty, immature, sexy, playboy. Charlotte is the complete opposite, she is studious, hardworking, and a no nonsense type of girl. When they are sent on an assignment together, things get very interesting, as they cannot stand each other. Or can they??This story is told in a duel POV, and the storyline has witty, sarcastic, and humorous banter. This author has done a wonderful job in writing this story, and I loved it! I recommend Hayley’s work to all readers.

Loved this storyI received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.Ive never read anything from Hayley before and i wasnt disappointed with this book. I will read more from her. This book had me both in tears and in laughter. Well written from both Charlotte and Lukes side.Charlotte and Luke had to go work in a small town in the US for 3 months together. Charlotte thinks Luke is a self assured arrogant prick whos shit smelled of roses. Luke thinks Charlotte is cold, uptight prude who acts like a librarian. They hate each other. The love hate relationship keeps you hooked as they both get to know each other. Could what they both thought of each other be correct. You have to fall apart to come back stronger.

Well this was a very pleasant surprise. I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review and I'm so pleased I read it. Luke in the words and thoughts of charlotte is an entitled prick. He's too good looking, riding on his fathers coat tales, he's a flirt , lazy and inmature. Where Charlotte is the opposite, she studious, hardworking, some say a stuck up bitch with a no nonsense attitude which gains her no fans or friends. But does anyone really know the real Charlotte or for that matter Luke? So when they end up on a 3 month assignment on the other side of the world, things might get interesting to say the least as they can't stand each other. This is such a well written and at times witty book. Written from both main characters point of view.

Hayley was a new author to me, WOW from the first page she had me!They say opposites attracts?????Luke (Dex) and Charlotte are thrown together to work on a contract away from home in Oklahoma. Charlotte, quiet, hardworking girl who hides her pain very well and Dex who can charm the birds from the tress. Can they live in a house together for 3 months+?I loved how the story develops and how their working/living relationship builds.I laughed, cried and screamed at times for both characters but was so absorbed in the story I had to finish asap.Beautifully written with understanding and passion.Thank you!

This amazing Novel is about Charlotte Blake a cut throat business woman and a powerhouse professional & Luke "Dex" Dexter is the face of an angel and the charm of the devil. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he's everything that Charlotte resents. This novel is very well written & developed with no plot holes. The character's are realistic and charming and lovable. This story is filled with laughter, humor (as some parts I couldn't stop laughing), romantic, sexy & steamy, with many surprises. I truly loved this novel. I highly recommend reading this book as you will not be disappointed. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I've read from this author so I went into it not sure how I would feel. I'm a big introvert. I would rather sit at home and interact with my family and kindle than go out and "have a good time." So I could completely relate to Charlotte throughout this book. I did feel bad for the weight that she seemed to constantly carry and her difficulty to let it go. But I loved watching her develop throughout the story and open up more. Luke "Dex" was amazing. I loved how he was able to help Charlotte grow. I enjoyed seeing his love for her grow as well and how it seemed to help him grow. Definitely a great book and an author that I look forward to reading more from.

Oh, the banter between the two main characters was awesome in this story.I have read a lot of books where authors try to get that funny banter between their two leads. Some manage to do, but some manage to fail dramatically. This book by Hayley Oakes didn't fail. The banter was on point and I loved it. If you are after a story of two opposites coming together in a witty, sarcasm filled way then this is one for you to read. Not to mention, the romance was off the charts between these two when it got going. This isn't the first book I have read by Hayley, but I can tell you that she never disappoints!

This story will have you feeling all sorts of emotions. Luke is laid back, sexy, arrogant and things seem to come easy for him. Charlotte is smart and career focused. Charlotte has to work hard for what she wants. Charlotte hates everything about Luke. Charlotte and Luke are forced to work together and the attraction continues to grow the more time they spend together. Can they continue to fight the attraction and sparks? Will Luke prove he's more than a player? I enjoyed the banter between Luke and Charlotte and loved the characters. I enjoyed this story. Received copy for honest review.

Wow. I've never read a Hayley Oakes book before and now I can't stop but wonder why! What a bloody brilliant writer she is! When I first read the synopsis I thought 'okay, your typical office tyrst' but this is anything but. The characters are written with so much complexity that I feel like I know them in and out. Some books have difficult backgrounds thrown in for good measure, but their backgrounds were pivotal in the story line. Completely fell in love with Dex and was so happy with the ending. Couldn't put it down

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.Closing the Deal by Hayley Oakes. This book made me smile – a lot. It was a light weight enjoyable read. Mix an annoying get everything handed to me playboy with a sour woe is me girl and sparks fly. The dialogue between the main characters is excellent, hurtful to the point of cringing and very funny at times. They fight their attraction – mightily. The story takes us through Charlotte and Luke’s growth into more rounded individuals with a smile a plenty. I will read more by this author.

Charlotte and Luke could not be any more different. The only thing thing they have in common is that they work for the same employer. Their story begins when they are sent from Manchester across the globe to a small town in the States to close a deal. Being forced to live together brings out all their frustrations and feelings towards one another, can opposites attract and how long can they fight their feelings for one another? I loved the chemistry the entire way through..good and bad and how it all played out. Charlotte and Luke were definitely a force to be reckoned with.
