I wasn't sure about this one at the start - it can be hard to get into a story when you're thrown into a relationship that has already started and ended. It took a while for me to get into things, but I ended up really enjoying this one. That's thanks mostly to Xavier, he wasn't shy about how he felt, he fully admitted that he had loved Magnolia for years. And after unexpectedly bumping into each other again he's not going to let her get away again before finding out what went wrong. This was a classic case of miscommunication, but it wasn't boring or too cheesy. It was short and sweet.

They say love and hate are closely related!!~~~I received an ARC of Bitter Rivals by Winter Renshaw for an honest review!~~~This is a novella from the Never series by Ms Renshaw. She says you can read it as a standalone, though I would recommend reading the other books in the series (Never Kiss a Stranger, Never is a Promise, and Never Say Never) you will love the alpha males and the strong women!!!!! Besides the other characters mentioned in Bitter Rivals will make more sense if you read the Never series first!!!This story is based on Xavier and Magnolia, two realtors that were as close as two peas in a pod. They were the best of friends and co-workers until a misunderstanding tore them apart, with Magnolia leaving and going to work for the Van Cleef agency.Magnolia is taking a much needed extended weekend up to the Van Cleef’s Hampton beach house all by herself. That is until she steps into the house seeing shoes, a computer on the counter, and the patio doors wide open. When she steps out to the patio, she realizes that there is a very big mistake going on and is not too happy to she HIM there!!! She has not been able to forgive him or forget the reason why she fled all those years ago. She could not reconcile the man she spent the night with to the man who was talking to other male realtors the next morning.Xavier, hot and sexy with a physical being that just screams for attention. Five years ago he told Magnolia he loved her, spent a wonderful night with her, then lost her the next day with her switching agencies with no explanation. The man has yet to pick up his heart and put it back together, not that many women didn't want to assist him. So when he sees her at the Van Cleef’s Hampton beach home, he knew he had to try get her back and figure out what went wrong all those years ago.Of course when you put two stubborn people together in a house on a holiday weekend, what else happens but some good old misunderstandings and alcohol induced excitement. This is a sweet romance where surprisingly the alpha male is more willing to spill his heart and risk irreparable damage, this is a first for me and I think I fell in love!!!!This is a sweet, clean romance about second chances with a lesson in not listening to conversations and think the worst without getting the FULL understanding. I would highly recommend this novella and the rest of the Never series (or just about all of Ms Renshaw’s books.

Wow, loved this story so much. This is the story of Two rival Manhattan real estate brokers who were good friends, who ended up spending one night together and then the classic miscommunication caused one to immediately separate and not speak to the other for several years until they were forced back together. Awesome story and can’t wait to read more in this world again. Love Ms. Renshaw’s writing, it flows so well together. The scenes, especially the lovemaking is so hot and spicy. My rating : 4.6 stars*******I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review***

This is the second novella by Winter Renshaw that I've read. This novella is about two people who are highly competitive in real estate, and they used to be partners. Xavier believes that you should work your butt off, but you should also have a good time. Both end up at the same house for a vacation. Xavier is determined to make her sorry that they never were a couple. Magnolia believes that one should work hard all the time - who needs rest. She arrives at the vacation home of her boss and there's already someone there. She knows he broke her heart once, but she's determined to make sure it never happens again. Good character development. Good plot. An enjoyable read. I would recommend for romance fans. Happy Reading my friends!

Rate: 4, 2 / 5 starsI was in a middle of a Winter Renshaw marathon so I picked this novella because I hadn't yet read it but as it turns out, I had. As soon as I started reading this, I knew I had read it before and I thought I was going crazy because for the past 4 years Goodreads has been my religion, every book I read I add it here and I seriously have no clue how this book was on my want-to-read shelve instead of the read one. I'm pissed because if it happened with this one, it might have happened with others and that also makes me sad. However, I did not mind re reading the book, it was as entertaining as the first time, it's a super fast read and a fun and sweet book.

Circumstances led then to the same vacation home, emotions boiled over. Xavier saw this as an opportunity to give it his final shot, but Magnolia couldn't trust him. What happened in the past was keeping her away from him. She's too stubborn, he's too noble. But sometimes something has to give. This story is a quick coverage of their back and forth existence after seeing each other 2 years later. Two years without closure, without getting over each other, without knowing what went wrong really. Mistakes made, lessons learned. You just need to communicate. Cute quick story, with some passion thrown in.

This was a cute novella about exes that find their way back to each other. The book starts approx. 2 years after they have parted ways, and I wish had a few chapters showing their dynamic when they were best friends who took it to the next level. Grade: 3/5

I don't think it's possible for second chance stories to be told well in novella format. We just never see the connection. When they get back together, it always seemed rushed, or those fleeting moments of "hey, you know, my ex wasn't so bad" and "we always had great sex".Such a shame, I like friends to lovers, ex-lover enemies, and like second chances. Even though to me, second chances are the most fairy tale of fairy tales.

Short but sweet. First book by this author for me and though I realized it was a follow up novella to her previous series as per the mention of the couple it was still easy to follow. Looking forward to checking out some more of her books.

I loved this story! I know it is shorter than Winter normally writes, but it was just as awesome as everything else. This is about Xavier and Magnolia. They are competing real estate agents in Manhattan, and former friends. Former friends that crossed the line, had sex with each other and it didn't end well for their relationship. They end up at the same vacation house for the weekend, and Magnolia is not at all happy with the situation. She is upset, mad, bitter, and very angry at Xavier. She never got over the reason for their split, and asking her to share a beach house with him for the weekend is next to impossible. Xavier, on the other hand, is not at all upset that she is there. He doesn't have a clue as to why they didn't work out, why she is upset with him, why she holds him responsible for their split, and he wants nothing more than to repair their relationship. It was really hard to see how upset Magnolia was with Xavier, because I never really got a "bad guy" vibe from him. I liked him immediately, despite what she was saying. I knew that there had to be a serious misunderstanding. Magnolia, on the other hand, I found it really hard to like her. She was a grade A b*tch, and that is putting it lightly. I understand that she was hurt, but I just connected more with Xavier. She treated him so bad, yet he was still willing to lay his dignity down at her feet if it meant that they could fix whatever was broken. She just wasn't having any of it. I actually felt the hurt and the angst between the two of them coming off of my kindle in waves! It was so refreshing watching the female lead stand her ground, but at the same time admit that she was also wrong. It was heartbreaking at times. When it all came out, it was up to her to fix it and it was great to see that for a change. It was definitely a page-turner, I couldn't wait to see what happens in the end, how it was all going to be resolved! That is how awesome Winter's writing is! I highly recommend this book!

The Best Parts:I freaking love this story. The fact that we get to see Addison and Wilder again makes me so happy, but then we get to see others in their lives and get to learn the story of Xavier and Magnolia. Their love story is one that is typical where there is a miscommunication, BUT their relationship is so different from others that I have read. They were business partners, best friends even, and then one night was all it took. It wasn’t even that they were in a relationship, no they weren’t but so much happened in so little time I don’t think that they were ready for each other, but now years later. The heat is amped up and the hatred and love all still there. This is their time and they OWN it!The Worst Parts:I almost didn’t like how Magnolia acted towards the end when she learned what actually happened, but then again even Xavier said the same thing. This wasn’t a Magnolia he had ever seen. I liked that as readers we got to see a change in a character that another character ALSO got to see. It didn’t feel like you were just reading the story already happening, but that you were with them on this journey.Final Thoughts:I loved the Never series by Winter and this can totally be read as a stand alone before or after reading the other books. This story is all Magnolia and Xavier, but if you get curious about backstories know that there is always somewhere to go if you need more Addison and Wilder <3

A Review of Bitter Rivals by Winter RenshawOvercoming the past? - 5 starsXavier and Magnolia are both real estate brokers. They were best of friends for quite a while, until they crossed the line and everything ended the next day. Xavier has no idea why she walked away from him and their business partnership and he has spent the last couple of years trying to get over her. Magnolia stopped working with him and took a position with a rival firm. Now, they both end up spending a weekend at a house in the Hamptons, since the owners didn't talk to each other about who they were letting use the house. When she gets there, Xavier is already there and cooking his dinner. She is hot, tired and refuses to back down after she checks to see if there are any rooms available anywhere in the area. One misunderstanding robbed both of them of their happy ever after before, but can they overcome that and make it to the end of a happy outcome this time? Well worth the time to read. **Complimentary Copy provided by Author for an honest review.**

Friends to lovers. Lovers to enemies. Enemies to lovers, again??Magnolia and Xavier were friends for years until...One moment.A few words. And everything changed.A few years later and the hostility is still high, and the hurt is still fresh. But one weekend in the Hamptons, and everything comes to a boiling point. Can they repair the relationship they had, and the one they both wanted?Or will their stubbornness, and self-righteousness stand in their way?I really loved how Winter was able to tell a perfectly intriguing novella without it seeming rushed or unfinished. There were times I wanted to smack the crap out of Magnolia.Even though I understood her reasoning behind her choices, I believe she should have confronted Xavier in the beginning instead of running. As for Xavier, he was doing what any man would do for his girl. Protecting her.Albeit in a this-will-come-back-to-bite-you-in-the-booty way.If you're in the mood for a moody/sassy/short sweet read then this book is for you. :)

I received an advance copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.Magnolia and Xavier were the best of friends who fell in love. After one night of bliss and confessing their feelings, Magnolia overheard Xavier say something and fled. Years later they are now bitter rivals in the world of real estate. After a miscommunication between Magnolia's boss and her husband (who is a good friend of Xaviers) both of them end up at the same Hampton house for a vacation at the the same time. Feelings start flying. Can they figure out what happened and come to terms with what split this dynamic duo up or will they be lost to each other forever? This is a short story so it was read very quickly. It apparently ties in a few characters from a couple of her other series but you will be find reading it as a stand alone as i did, since i have not read the other series yet. I did enjoy it for what it was. A quick simple, not to complicated read. There is only 1 sexual scene in it but even that is not overly sexual so its pretty timid compared to some books.

Sometimes you just want to read a book that is short and sweet but still packs a punch. Well Bitter Rivals will deliver. Xavier and Magnolia have a past and for the past two years have been sworn enemies. Maybe it was an innocent mistake or destiny but somehow they both ended up at the same house on the same weekend in the Hamptons. There will be tension. There will be lust. There will also be hurt, pain, and a chance to make things right. But will they take it????Xavier is hot and cocky. But you can’t help but want to like him. To be fair when the truth comes out, I wanted to punch him in the balls because really, what are you 12? There were so many more appropriate ways to handle the situation than to act like a grade A douchebag. Magnolia is a strong independent woman but sometimes she just got in her own way by trying to prove a point rather than being willing to see the truth. And the secondary characters were interesting too. This was a very good story with a HEA.ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Received this complimentary arc copy from the author for an honest review.Just a break, a rest that is all she needs. Magnolia takes a break one weekend at a friends beach hours in the Hamptons. Little does she know that Xavier, her ex best friend, , ex lover and ex business partner is there. What a shock. It is for Xavier too but he is secretly pleased. A story of two people who have loved and worked together so well it is sad to see them apart. All because of a misunderstanding 2 years previously. Magnolia is torn because of her feelings for Xavier are still strong but she is still hurting. Problem is Xavier doesn't know why she left. He is angry, sad, needs questions answered but knows he needs to get round Magnolia to get answers. They need to trust each other and give each other the answers they both need. Enough time has passed.A brilliantly written story and would have loved it to be longer as they are such a charismatic couple. Xavier is so protective of Magnolia and will try everything he can to make things right. Loved it all.

Bitter Rivals tells the story of Xavier and Magnolia. They are rival realtors, that used to be best friends. A misunderstanding at a realtor convention turns work and best friends into competitors. The problem is Xavier loves Magnolia, and has secretly loved Magnolia for years. Unbeknownst to them the Van Cleefs have loaned their beach house to both of them for the extended holiday weekend. Upon arriving at the Hampton Beach house, Xavier is already there, and Magnolia isn't happy. After a night of alcohol and confession, can these two work out their misunderstandings? Will Magnolia realize that Xavier wasn't playing her five years ago, but truly loved her and still does?I enjoyed the fact that this book revisits the characters from the Never series. You don't have to read the Never series to enjoy this book though. This book is a standalone book.I was given a ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Magnolia and Xavier are current real estate rivals and former lovers and ex-best friends. They haven't seen each other in a couple of years and by accident they both are staying at the same house in the Hampton's during a holiday weekend. In the short time they are there they manage to get under each other's skin. They also prove that they still have a spark. Magnolia won't give in to Xavier, and refuses to listen to what he has to say. What happened that caused these two people who cared deeply for each other to end up such bitter rivals? This is a tale of love, heartache and second chances. This was a wonderful novella by the amazing Winter Renshaw. If you love a good HEA, this is the book for you. ** I received an arc in exchange for an honest review**

"You’re the only girl I’ve ever loved…There was no one before you, and there’s been no one since you.”This short story showcases everything I love about this author’s writing style.Magnolia and Xavier were once the best of friends. They worked and played together. They were a team. Until they had one unforgettable night together. The next day, Magnolia disappeared out of Xavier’s life without an explanation. After being out of each other’s lives for two years, they suddenly find themselves spending the weekend in the same house. On their own.Magnolia is bitter and still angry with Xavier. Xavier is still hurting and confused over why Magnolia shut him out of her life. Both still love the other. This is an enemies-to-lovers story full of anger, regret, heartache, suppressed desire, and true love.It was a fab, quick read, and I enjoyed every word!

This was a classic case of "this was all just a big misunderstanding." Xavier and Magnolia were once best friends and business partners before one morning gone wrong changed that. Two years later, Xavier is still crazy in love with Magnolia while she denies her feelings at every turn. Renshaw teases you through the story instead of just straight telling you what happened between the two. This made me more invested in knowing the truth. I was glad to see the two finally figure out the truth! I just hate they waited two years!! But, in the end, when someone's the one for you, time doesn't really matter. Loved the cameos from the other characters in her books. I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Outstanding & heartbreaking, amazing & awesome romantic story written by the incredibly, talented Winter Renshaw. "ARC Review"Magnolia is taking a much needed break from the real estate hustle and bustle and is staying at her boss's house for the weekend. When she gets to the lovely getaway, she runs into her ex-boy friend, lover, best friend, love of her life, Xavier, who broke her heart. Xavier tells her that he still loves her and doesn't understand why things all of a sudden ended between them. She says he knows and won't believe his lies and Xavier leaves. Magnolia and Xavier both don't know if either one of them will ever get over each other. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written captivating & engaging love story of Magnolia and Xavier.

Instead of the HEA they deserved, Magnolia overheard a conversation the next morning. Instead of confronting Xavier, she ignores him for the next two years. They end up being bitter rivals.Fate brings them back together again. Will they eventually have the conversation they should have had two years previously, and get back together? You need to read this book to find out for yourself!!!Loved this story, and feel that Winter just keeps getting better and better.

This is a short and sweet novella about second chances from Winter Renshaw's Never seriesI love a good enemies-to-lovers and this story had plenty of white hot chemistry. The two leads used to be the best of friends until something tore them apartA chance meeting a short holiday throws the two protagonists together and then it is all on like Donkey Kong!I really enjoy Winter's writing style and she always creates characters that engage you and make you want to see their story through until the very end.I cannot wait to read more from this authorI received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review

This short book tells the story of Magnolia and Xavier, former best friends, real estate partners and for one night only, lovers. Following that night, with amazing sex and declarations of love, Magnolia leaves the hotel, resigns from their agency and freezes out Xavier. Xavier has no clue why she turned away. Mags was devastated by something Xavier did the morning after... Two years later, they wind up at the same Hampton mansion by accident, which triggers the start of...something. Is it the start of a new beginning for the couple or is it the final closure of them? My only complaint : I wanted MORE!

ARC for an honest reviewSuper cute and fast read about Xavier and Magnolia. They were the best of friends and had a solid working relationship. After one night of true feelings come to light the next day it’s all over. After two years of being apart they met at the Hamptons for the weekend and everything happens. Answers are demanded and proclaims of love is exchanged.I didn’t read the other novels that sparked this spin off but I was able to follow along and still understood were they were coming from. True love and feeling that run that deep just don’t go away and Xavier and Mags are a too test to that.
