I find myself falling even more in love with Goose Harbor with each subsequent book. This is one town I could find myself living in & the character’s people I could run into at the grocery store! This is Brice’s story; we’ve met him in a previous book. He is more of a loner, standoffish from most people and keeps to himself. As the story progresses, we learn the reasons why he’s that way. Along comes Kendall, running from her past and wanting to start a new life and a new business. She, too, has hurts and issues that keep her locked in the past. She’s quite the opposite of Brice; bright, bubbly, outgoing, and a real people person who wants to make everyone happy. As you can guess, this makes some interesting sparks between the two! Burnt in love & life, how will God help them through the rocky road of forgiveness and move their hearts beyond past hurts & lies? One thing I especially enjoy about this author, is how she portrays realistic issues with the grace, mercy & forgiveness that comes only from God. How she always points me to Him in my own struggles, thus reminding me of His sovereign work in my life. This is for lovers of contemporary inspirational fiction who enjoy reading about small town living and God working in hearts! *I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review which I have given here. Thank you Jessica for taking me back to Goose Harbor, I look forward to future stories! *

Goose Harbor is just lovely! The characters throughout the standalone books in this series have been wonderful, and Small Town Girl’s two main characters (Brice and Kendall) are among some of my favorites so far. This author’s stories aren’t your average run-of-the-mill cookie cutter plots. I mean, Kendall, starts a date planning business, and it totally works! The message of forgiveness and understanding love flows beautifully throughout the pages. Neither Kendall nor Brice never had a picture perfect home life growing up, and that provided both obstacles and common ground as their journey continued. I enjoyed seeing some of the old characters I’d grown to love throughout the other Goose Harbor books, but I think Brice’s teenage sister was my newest side character fav. (Even though Brice’s brother was a close second) She was written spot on! The cover for this book was perfect for Brice and Kendall, and the last few pages of their story are some of the sweetest words ever! I received an ARC in exchanged for a honest review, which I have provided.

Another great inspirational romance novel by Jessica Keller! Sweet story that gets to the heart of some deep emotional truths. I know the book hit home for me with the theme of abandonment and trust. I love the way Jessica continues to turn out stories that are both lovely and yet still deals with deep issues. Great read!

Kendall Mayes wants to start her business and essentially a fresh start in life as well. She finds the perfect location in Goose Harbor, Michigan. There she begins her date-planning business. She also meets Brice Daniels who has his own shipping business. As Kendall sees him often and gets to know him, she has the great idea of bringing Brice into her business, especially since he is struggling in his. She asks him to partner with her to give sunset cruises catering to couples and tourists alike. She wants to keep her distance emotionally because of a string of bad relationships. Bruce has also been burned by love. However, as they work together more and more, they open up more to each other and let their guard down. They begin a relationship. All is going well until Brice discovers that his enemy who is a rich, greedy owner of several boats and docks, has been helping Kendall start her business. When he has tried to put Brice into financial ruin. Needless to say, Brice is not happy about this bit of information. He goes out on his own for a few days but then returns when he realizes some truth he needs to deal with in his life. This story is about genuine love, accepting and dealing with past mistakes and most of all, forgiveness. I truly enjoyed this story. This is an example of a story where love conquers all.

If you’re looking for an inspirational small-town romance with plenty of tension, flirtatious bantering, sunset cruises and a hunk of a hero, then Small-Town Girl by Jessica Keller won’t disappoint you. Keller does a great job, once again, of immersing you into the small town of Goose Harbor. Her vivid description and lovable characters, Kendall and Brice, grab your attention and make you fall in love with them. Her story is believable and characters relatable enough to make you think of the young couple getting to know one another in your church’s singles group.Brice and Kendall have an easy going relationship and seem to click almost instantly. Both of them don’t want to jump into another romantic relationship, yet it happens anyway, much as it does in real life when God has a plan that we don’t count on. I love the way their relationship develops, based on a business partnership and slipping easily into a friendship, each realizing that they have similar enough pasts to understand one another. Then of course they fall for one another! Keller does this so well, that she makes you feel their hesitations and their admiration grow to love right along with the characters. When the black moment happens, you know from foreshadowing that things won’t go well, yet I found myself wanting to slap Brice up-side the head when he lets his personal feelings get in the way of fully grasping Kendall’s situation. I really think this aptly demonstrates how selfish and caught-up in our own perspective, prejudices and situations that we fail to see another person’s plight. That’s what makes Keller’s writing shine. Her characters are well-rounded and relatable, reflecting the good and bad parts of the human race and bringing them full-circe back to God’s love and grace.I highly recommend Small-Town Girl as a good, clean romance. One you won’t want to miss!

Kendall Mayes has done just that. She’s settled in Goose Harbor, a small tourist town along the shore of Lake Michigan, to start her dream business. Instead of focusing on dating herself, she wants to help others plan the perfect dates. Tasked with finding a weekly excursion by her silent business partner, Kendall’s chance meeting with shipping-owner Brice Daniels seems timely. While she insists she’d not looking for love, and Brice has been burned too many times in the past, the attraction the two feel sparking between them is undeniable. But will past hurts and doubts of their worth derail the chance of these two finding a happily-ever-after?Jessica Keller handles the topics of difficult upbringings, of how misconceptions can shadow a person for years, of letting go of the past and seeking your worth in light of God’s love with finesse. Both Kendall and Brice have lived through messy pasts that years later leave them believing they are not worth God’s best. Both need to come to terms with their pasts, forgive those who hurt them, and let go in order to love themselves—and others—fully. And, of course, there’s the underlying tension of attraction whenever these two get together. Hopefully we’ll get to read more about the Daniels family (Brice’s brother and sister both piqued my interest).***The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Kendall moves to Goose Harbor and starts up a business called Love on a Dime, a date planning business and she partners up with Brice who owns a shipping business and they offer a weekly sunset cruise for couples and tourists. They also plan private sunset cruises. Both Kendall and Brice have had failed romances and are not looking for love but they start talking and telling each other things that they haven't shared with anyone else. When Brice finds out who Kendall's silent business partner is and that it is his longtime enemy, Kendall and Brice's friendship is put to the test. Brice disappears for a few days and during that time Kendall's father shows up and tells her that her Mom kidnapped her when she was little and that he had been looking for her ever since and Kendall thought that he had abandoned her.Eventually Kendall goes out looking for Brice and gets hurt in the process and Brice ends up finding her and getting her back to safety and the hospital. The both realize that they love each other.I received a copy of the is book from the author in exchange for a honest review. Looking forward to reading more books by Jessica.

Sail into romance on Lake MichiganWhat a delightfully sweet romance! This is the first book I've read by Jessica Keller and I thoroughly enjoyed every page. But Small-Town Girl isn't just a fluffy romance novel, both Kendall and Brice are two very flawed characters whose backstories and emotions will strongly resonate with many readers. Forgiveness is a strong theme in Small-Town Girl. I also liked how Jessica Keller portrayed love as more than grand gestures but is sticking it out together through the tough times and that when it feels like God has abandoned us, it is usually we that have moved away from Him. I don't usually read a lot of straight romances but I'm glad I read this one. Jessica Keller's latest Goose Harbor story, Small-Town Girl, is a great afternoon's read.(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)

A Small-Town Girl is a well written, fun romance set in Goose Harbor, Michigan. I liked the story-line from the beginning. Kendall Hayes is a character that I genuinely liked for her loyalty and strength. Kendall’s new business and fresh start brings her to Goose Harbor and into Brice Daniels life. Brice is a character that I liked, too. I found him to be charming. Even though there was an attraction between Kendall and Brice, I appreciated that the author didn’t rush their relationship. So many times authors have a tendency to do that. The story has a nice flow and strong character development which was so enjoyable to read. I liked the inspirational thread throughout. I recommend this book to fans of Christian and anyone looking for a sweet romance novel.I received a complimentary copy from the author for an honest opinion which I have given.

Small-Town Girl is a tender romance! It is always a pleasure to visit Goose Harbor, Michigan, and its familiar faces, as well as meet new friends, too! Kendall Mayes and Brice Daniels are endearing characters who carry a lot of emotional baggage from their pasts, and I enjoyed experiencing their journeys. I delighted in their choosing to open their hearts once again and loved the wonderful inspirational threads that were woven through their story. “The beauty of it all is that within the pain of relationships, we learn grace and forgiveness and love—which are some of the most prized attributes in the Bible.” Jessica Keller captures the charm of small town life, and I look forward to visiting Goose Harbor again soon! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Neither Kendall or Brice are interested in dating anyone but their businesses bring them together to facilitate dates for others. Both have secrets in their past that come to light and affect the possibility of them having a future together. Can they manage to get past that and fall in love? The characters were well developed and the situations were believable. If the story was real life, I think you would want Kendall and Brice as friends.I thought this was a great story in the Goose Harbor series. In spite of being part of a series, it can be read on its own. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review which this is. I've read all of the previous Goose Harbor books and enjoyed them. I look forward to reading future books in this series.

Past hurts keep Kendall from serious relationships and that totally matches the thoughts of Brice too. These two are kind of thrown together when she needs to plan a weekly event for her new business and Brice has the perfect idea of how they both can make money with sunset cruises. New start, new business venture, beautiful sunsets and new ideas on romance. A hard topic of abuse is brought out throughout this story but the author brings it all together in a partnership that ends in a romance of the heart. I'd recommend this book because I really enjoyed how the author brought it all together.

"Love is the courageous choice every time." As Keller described her hero Brice in the beginning, I couldn't help but picture Josh Dallas' David Nolan. (A connection I didn't mind in the least ;)) In fact that only endeared grumpy bear protector Brice to me more. But what I think I appreciate most about STG is how Keller used the princely, knight-in-shining-armor references and then flipped them on their heads -- especially having heroine Kendall ask herself if being in love meant not only finally having a champion, but also BEING a champion for the man she loved at times.

This book was very interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the main characters were so beaten up by their pasts. I won’t say more here but Jill did an excellent job of providing emotional baggage for them! I found Kendall’s choice of career interesting but what I really loved was how it worked out for Brice and Kendall to help each other while helping their own businesses! I loved both of their characters and really found their chemistry delightful.

Small Town Girl is a sweet romance. Kendall is an outgoing entrepreneur who recruits the help of the hero, Brice. He is a quiet introvert who seems to prefer his cabin and camping on his land. The two are attracted to each other, but because of their past history and childhood they are reluctant to start any relationships. I enjoyed this story and I recommend it.*I was given this book by the author for an honest review, which I have given.
