Attention holding bookThis book was a great story of good versus evil. It held my attention to the end. I thought part of the conclusion to the problem while trapped in the mine could have been said in fewer pages, still, it was an excellent book.

Terrifying and fascinatingThis is a story of cruelty and evil and its far-reaching effect on others. More importantly, however, it is also a story of kindness, determination, and love.

I'd rate it ten if I couldAt first I was a bit disappointed that this book wasn't my favorite genre (old west). But it pulled me in, wrapped me up and lead me on. An unlikely but awesome hero brings to light a 50 year old tragedy and injustice. So very well done, Mr. Curtis!

Across The darkThe first book I read by C.M. Curtis was West of Vermillion and I was very impressed. So I decided to read Across The Dark. I just completed the second book and have given it a 5 star rating. It is a truly exciting novel about conflict involving a coal mine. Mr. Curtis's writing style is outstanding. You are immediately drawn into the plot. I highly recommend it.

I was told I would enjoy this book and I did. Once I started, it was difficult to stop reading. It's easy to connect with the characters who the story is told through. I honestly couldn't read fast enough to figure out the answer to the mystery but it was worth reading every word. This is a book even young adults would enjoy.

Not my usual genre, but I'm pleased I stepped out for this one. Interesting plot twists, well developed characters, and a lot more about mining that I ever than I ever thought I'd come to know!
