This story took me a little while to get into but once I did, I didn't want to stop and when the ending came I was left thinking "Are you kidding me?", and now I will be impatiently waiting to see were book 2 takes Tristian and Peyton. While I don't really view the ending as a cliff hanger, it does leave you with a sense of "what the hell!" and soooooo many questions left unanswered.Tristian is a complex and damaged male who after an really bad incident at a BDSM club, gets placed in a mental hospital where he is medicated and struggles to deal with his diagnosis of being bi-polar. Throughout the story we watch Tristian as he experiences such a huge range of emotions that he finds increasingly difficult to accept and deal with. He has had a very difficult upbringing and literally has no-one there to help him.Enter Peyton who is hired by the owner of the BDSM club to help care for Tristian at home. Peyton is naturally a very caring and loving woman who obviously has her own issues but none the less cares for Tristian. She completely accepts Tristian for who he is, illness and all. I can't wait to find out what Peyton's issues are and more of her background in the next book because she is still quite the mystery. This story is one of unconditional love, and we watch as Tristian and Peyton's relationship begins to deepen. Tristian has never felt like he does for Peyton about anyone in his entire life, he cares deeply for her but he knows that the future is not certain...."You will always mean more to me than anyone else ever has. I gave up a long time ago on feeling anything other than lust. But with you, I know that I want more, but how much more...I honestly don't know. I can't handle forever, Peyton. Just say you'll give me right now.""I care about you more than I have about any other person on this entire earth".There are secondary characters in the story who begin to develop relationships with Tristian, and show him a sense of support that he may not even realise is happening. Chris - the owner of the BDSM club who didn't initially like or trust Tristian is the one who gets him the help at the hospital and hires Peyton, he also offers further help for his future. Gabriel - who owns a bar where Tristian gets work, is a lovely man and once he reveals his own secrets and motivation for hiring Tristian, has your heart absolutely breaking for his loss. So, while Tristian has support from Chris, Gabriel and especially Peyton, he unfortunately heads into a downward spiral and his resulting decision is heartbreaking.I experienced a lot of emotions while reading this story, some quite difficult, but I feel that Hazel St James did a wonderful job of dealing with the issue of mental illness really well. The main characters struggles were not taken lightly and how he dealt with his life was realistic and moving.Congratulations Hazel on a wonderful story. I completely recommend this book and implore readers who may find it difficult at the start to stick with it because it is really worth your while to experience ALL of Tristian. I can't wait to see where Tristian and Peyton are headed in the future.

This book deserves 10 stars. The blurb of this book doesn’t begin to explain the depth of this book.Tristan and Peyton both have pasts that have stayed with them as adults. After an incident at a BDSM club Tristan must come face to face with something that will forever change his life. Peyton is sent to help him on a day to day basis. To give him something to look forward to each day. What happens instead is an attraction that neither of them can ignore.I want to explain my personal thoughts about this book.I read a lot. I read many different kinds of books. But this book will forever hold my heart and will forever be one of my top 5 favorite books, if not my all-time favorite books. Why you may ask, this is why.I am bipolar. I’ve dealt with it for years, more than half my life but it took a breakdown to get the diagnosis. I went undiagnosed for at least 10 years. I was lost and didn’t know why I felt the way I did.I could spend years trying to express my feelings about this book and not ever scratch the surface. The majority of the population don’t understand what bipolar is, or how it effects the life of the person who lives with it on a daily basis or the lives of the people around them. There is also a large portion of the population still believe that people who suffer from mental illness of any kind, especially bipolar, who should be committed to an institution and forgotten about. That they shouldn’t be allowed to live with the rest of the world. They don’t think people with mental illness can be functioning members of society. We aren’t crazy, we don’t need to be shut away and forgotten. Bipolar is different for everyone, because everyone is different. Not only did the author write a book where the main character is bipolar she wrote a book that explains in depth at how it effects a person. She clearly understands bipolar, and it shows in her writing. I have never in my life read a book like this, a book that hit so close to home that when I finished reading I had to personally contact the author to thank her.I will never be able to express to her how grateful I am to her for writing this book. To be able to tell her how much this book means to me. This book and this author will have a place in my heart and my soul for the rest of my life.Thank you Hazel St. James, from the bottom of my heart for writing this book.

Cliffhanger! Son of a biscuit. seriously. Thanks for clearly stating this is book 1. This book was very confusing and left so many questions I doubt I will finish the series. On another note, I did some research, and a couple from the other series is in this one. I suggest you read the other books first. Maybe it will help you with this one, I on the other hand am done.

Tristan needs more in his 24-year-old life. He should be content with his life having risen from the ranks of not being wanted by his family, having a good job and a fancy car, but he has grown restless. He has been very active in his sex life, but even that has gotten stale. He believes he can conjure up more feelings of empowerment and control by experimenting in BDSM. Instead of taking a training course, he insists he is capable of doing this with minimal instruction. He is proven very wrong when on his first night things go too far. The ramifications of his uncontrolled behavior have him thrown so far backwards in his life that he has lost everything. He has resorted to living in an apartment above his uncle’s garage and is back to square one. Peyton is hired to take care of Tristan during his recovery. She makes certain that he takes his meds, transports him on his errands, and keeps him from falling into any self-destructive behaviors. Peyton is a little spitfire and has a comeback for Tristan whenever he tries to get under her skin. Their banter is humorous, sometimes gets a little sexy, but you can tell that these two broken souls have grown to trust each other. Things are going well between the two and their trust has grown exponentially into something more.“…just thinkin’ about how I must’ve done something right in another life to deserve you.” -- TristanBesides Tristan’s familial abandonment he also suffers from bipolar disorder. Tristan struggles with his acceptance of needing constant meds and therapy to control it. He has Peyton standing firmly by his side, but he begins to question if she is only with him because she was hired or if she truly feels anything for him. Tristan feels like his disease is bringing him down and he will ruin Peyton in the process. He tries to do the right thing by breaking away from the stability and dependence of Peyton.“Hey, if you really want to help me, you’ll leave me to do this my way. Before I can be someone that isn’t poisonous, I have to find out who I am and how to BE me. How to live and be a person and not just a bi-polar f*ckup. I need to do that and I think it would be best if I did it alone.”Tristan is making a mistake. Tristan holds a lot of promise becoming a better man that he is striving to be, but he needs the self-assurance that he is that person as he is now. He thinks he’s doing this to protect Peyton, but he doesn’t see that he is hurting her by pushing her away. We will find out in the next book “Being With You” which has already been released, how Tristan fares in his life without Peyton grounding him.

A very engaging story. This is not your typical romance, kink or otherwise. You are privy to the inner workings to a true mental illness and recovery process. If you have ever dealt with anyone or mental issues Tristan’s story will evoke strong emotions and reactions. Although these are fictional characters, they are so well written by Ms. St. James readers begin to identify with and relate to them on a personal level. You will cry and cheer with them. By the end of the novel, you will think of them as someone in your own family or the troubled couple from next door. Mental illnesses are not meant to be taken lightly or used as a scapegoat for bad behavior. This is not the case here. The illness and medications, even hospitalization, is taken very seriously and realistically. In many ways it is educational the way Tristan has a complete breakdown and has to struggle to pick himself up. Even though Peyton is sent in as an assistant to make sure Tristan eats, baths and takes his meds. There is more to her than meets the eye. Hopefully she will get her own story. They fight a physical attraction and eventually succumb to their desires. Nevertheless, it is not an all at once jump right in, Peyton makes Tristan take it slowly. Peyton has her own time frame, a three-date rule. However, Tristan finds ways to dance around some things. “Sure, I’m gonna kiss you now, baby. For a long time.” ~Tristan to Peyton. After begging a physical relationship, they become co-dependent on one another. Reading the twists and turns of this relationship can show how easily a bi-polar person can go up and down even while on medications. It truly is a roller coaster ride and not always an enjoyable one. With any ill person, you have to fight for sanity as well as love. The ending will leave you craving more of these well-written characters. Will we get to see some of Peyton’s issues? Will Tristan come to terms with his illness? Shey‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book ReviewsReview copy provided for an honest review4 STARS*Some subject matter maybe difficult to read, mention of BDSM, mental illness and suicideThis was not an easy read for me it deals with mental health issues; Bi-polar is a serious issue in today’s society and not to be taken lightly. Ms. St James did not do that in this book it was done with a look at what it can do to a person’s state of mind, body and soul and to the people around them. She took great care with this difficult subject matter to take an honest and genuine approach with her writing style that made the reading much easier. To me Tristan is very real; I felt his pain, his happiness, sadness and the rollercoaster that comes with what he has to deal with, to write such a character I can’t imagine what Ms. St. James must have gone through, as a reader it was all consuming. In steps Peyton a beautiful caring soul that wants nothing more than to help but for Tristan his all he knows is if you love something that’s broken people eventually leave. Hazel St James shows the side of a relationship of an unconditional love which is needed when you have someone with a mental illness. All though sometimes in the end the person with the illness must come to terms with it first. Tristan and Peyton’s road to HEA is going to be a long hard road, after all this is called the Redemption series.I look forward to seeing where this series goes. Yes, it was hard for me to start but in the end I was very glad that I finished it. Even with the tough subject, there was tenderness, humor and friendships were made that I can see helping Tristan and Peyton in their journey.

I'm a sucker for a book with a strong damaged character...it is in my nature to want to fix everything and this book was no different! It is beautifully written and so deep that I got lost in the pages. Tristan Hart has had a crap upbringing and comes from an insanely unstable family and that is being kind. He has fought for everything and you can't help but admire him for the things he prides himself on. Circumstances put him in a position that he did not see coming and will forever alter his future! Enter heart palpitations...his struggles tear at your heart. Enter Peyton Bauer the unexpected angel to watch over Tristan. She becomes his daily dose of sunshine and his way to find some type of "normal" in his life. The attraction between them is intense and you can feel the emotional struggles they both have as their protective walls start to crack and crumble. You feel the love and respect between them grow, but there are also many obstacles they need to overcome. Their story really touched my heart and it tugged at every emotion possible. I do not believe in spoilers, but I will tell you that this is the first book in a series and there is a cliffhanger…sonofa…My heart hurts for both Tristan and Peyton. Their tortured souls need redemption and they both have so much healing to do. I am cheering for them both and cannot wait for more of their story…Fabulous job Hazel…I’m ready for more…ASAP preferably!!!

For me this story took a little bit to get into. However, once I did get into I really enjoyed it. After a BDSM scene goes wrong, Tristan finds himself in a 30day lock at a hospital to work on living with his bi-polar. After he is release and back home, he finds himself being taken care of by Peyton thanks to Chris (who Tristan originally butted heads with, but he ends up being there for Tristan). Tristan does not want to end up under is Uncle's thumb again and wants a better life for himself. He seems to handle his BP when he is on the UP, but the minute he starts to go DOWN he doesn't seem to know how to handle it, the help that Peyton is offering or his nightmares. He is taking his meds and seeing his therapist, but isn't forthcoming with the information of what really plagues him. He then finds more support from his new boss Gabriel. While working through adjusting to life with managing his BP, Tristan starts to spiral downward and makes some heartbreaking decisions.I went through numerous emotions reading this book. I can not wait to read book and see what happens next with Tristan & Peyton. Hopefully, he will pull his head out of his rear and start to accept the help/support being offered to him and realize it isn't a weakness to do so.

I loved Ms St James Club Red book and was really excited when I found out Tristan was going to get his story told. After previously reading about a traumatizing scene (also included at the start of this book from his perspective) at Club Red where he was involved my interest in him was piqued and I’m happy we now get to learn more about him.We find out that Tristan suffers from Bi-Polar and is having a difficult time dealing with it. Peyton is hired by a friend to help care for Tristan and get him on the right path. What neither of them expect are the sparks that they feel for each other. She proves to be a woman who will stick with him through his ups and downs and we also find out that she has a troubled past also. Although we aren’t told what that is yet. This is a great book about the struggles a person with mental health problems can go through on a daily basis and Ms. St James does a great job creating 2 wonderful characters. I can’t wait for the next book in Tristan’s story !Review by Michelle**free copy provided for honest review**For more reviews visit welovekink (dot)com

This review contains spoilers. Oh man, where to begin? I gotta say I wanted to love this, really. I read the reviews and thought wow this will probably straight up my alley, I was so wrong. This 'hero' and I use the term loosely, is a terrible excuse for a man. I just could not stand him at first. I kept reading though and I was actually surprised that I grew to like him the more I read the book. I loved the fact that Peyton shot him down at first but she changed her tune too quickly for me, he should have had to work more for it. And I have no idea why the author felt the need to throw in so much mystery surrounding Dominic and Chris, it just felt weird to me which might be the point. I stayed up late cause I had to know how it ended. I wish I hadn't. Not only is Tristan a coward but he is also a liar. If you don't mind that in a 'hero' then you might enjoy this. I felt cheated of the hours I spent reading this crap and I will not be reading the second because Mr. 'hero' can't keep it in his pants and has sex with the dumb girl from the bar, after moving in with her, after telling Peyton he 'had to do this by myself'. God the whole thing just left me feeling sick.

Very rarely have I read a book with such intense emotions. The author has created a very complex character in Tristan Hart. His mental illness is not just a plot point to advance the story... it is the story. Tristan is a loner, not just by choice but by what he sees as necessity. Having no one close to you means no one can leave you behind. Peyton Bauer is a friend of a friend who is charged with checking on him every day after his breakdown. Tristan's amazed that Peyton doesn't look at him differently because of his illness. He soon realizes that Peyton is a good soul, but with heartache of her own.As Tristan tries to find navigate through the maze of his illness, he begins to push away the very people who want to help him. I can't wait for the next installment in this series. If you want a book that is a light and easy read, I'd give this one a pass. If you are looking for a book that wrenches heart felt emotions out you of for these fictional characters, I'd spend an afternoon with Tristan and Peyton.

After an incident in a BDSM club lands Tristan in a mental hospital for a month he struggles to find a way to deal with a bi-polar diagnosis. Tristan is left to restart his life and make choices to either hinder or help himself, struggling to overcome his past and make a future.Peyton is a healthcare professional who is asked to help Tristan, she soon finds out Tristan is going to present more challenges than maybe she's ready for. The two of them discover that the attraction between them could very well become something more than friendship and a professional relationship if they can get over their personal demons. This story kept me interested with the relationship and challenges it presented throughout for both characters to accept themselves and each other. I will definitely be watching for the next book!

I Loved this book. It was like NO other Book I have read. Tristan has Bi-Polar and Has to learn how to deal with it. Peyton is the only one that doesnt run from him, but can Tristan handle someone who will stick by him through the good and the Bad. That is what Tristan has to figure out. Hazel St.James wrote a great book showing us the other side of dealing with Bi-Polar. I can not wait for book 2.

This was not at all what I was expecting when I started this. And OMG the ending just about killed me. Bi-polar disease is not something to take lightly and to see this man try to cope with it was interesting. I still wonder what lays in Peyton's past. Although I have some theories. It was a change to see a very troubled man who didn't become perfect with a snap of the fingers.I look forward to see where the story goes and if they can make it back to each other.

Seriously? That's how it ends? Sometimes I really hate books that are part of a series. This was just ok. I feel bad, because I really wanted to like this book, but I just didn't connect with any of the characters. I'll will probably still check out the second one just to see if Tristan pulled his head out of his ass.
