This hooked me right off and I almost stayed up to finish reading it. I couldn't wait this morning to get back to it but it was such a let down. The promise of the characters never fully developed and they stayed flat one dimensional ideas; I was so disappointed. The dialogue wasn't very good and the use of a spell check as well as a grammar check would have helped a lot. I found that especially ironic since Erin would correct other people's use of grammar. Where it really lost me was when it switched to Troy's point of view. It all just seemed so contrived and because we never really got to know the characters there wasn't any depth. Troy was extremely deluded in his world view and I would have liked to understand what made him like that but we were only given a small glimpse when he recalled being beaten as a child for his sexual proclivities. He was certainly a very tormented soul. I have rarely been so happy that a book was such a fast read or that I didn't buy it. The promise of the beginning just wasn't fulfilled.

This book was very compelling to read. If it weren't for the major errors that interrupted the flow, I would have liked it better. Aren't there proof readers any more? I understand the errors on a first or second draft, but geez, some of these were real bonehead errors that should have been caught. I'm fussy that way. I also felt it left things hanging just a bit.
