Humm. This first in the Shifting Crossroads series was something I was looking forward to. You can tell from the cover, even before you get into the description, that is a PNR, not a UF or what some in the groups on Goodreads that I follow and contribute to are calling "Rural Fantasy" as opposed to Urban Fantasy. Ok, fine, I can do with a bit of PNR, let's check it out.First, the book is very short, only 74 pages, and priced at $3.99. Clearly not a lot of "bang for your buck." Other, better stories are out there in the 70-100 page range that are priced much lower and as good or better than this book. This felt like a $.99 to $1.99 purchase. I absolutely want authors to get paid, that isn't the point - it is value for your dollar. And in this case, it is "story for the dollar." Masters has the opportunity here, with an interesting concept and unusual shifter characters, to do a better job. This feels much like an author simply throwing a couple of darts at a dartboard full of characters, picking who is male and who is female, plopping them down at the Crossroads, doing their thing in a few pages and going home HEA. Poor character development is a problem for me, especially when interesting characters are wasted. This feels very much like calling-it-in, A-B-C, 1-2-3, done and done and let's move on to the next. Meh. It is a shame too. If you look at Masters' series listings you will see that some of the ideas themselves are very good. Hey, a Mongoose and a Cobra? A Wolf and a Reindeer?? Creative. I just wish that she had utilized the storyline potential and really cared more about her stories than cranking out rote PNR-slash-Erotica short stories. Boring. I wish I could be more positive, but I won't be purchasing any more of Master's stories, and that leaves me a bit sad.

Pity this series is not M/M, the shifters are quite interesting and the coming up story from this author "Black and White"the shifter, is a Panda Bear..how adorable, but this story is about heterosexual couple as well:(

This is the first book in a very promising series. Great concept and a really engaging story-line.I have enjoyed the books in ebook, so I thought to revisit in audio. Ezzy is really sweet and Buzz is just delicious!! An owl and a bear make a very unique match. I am intrigued by the idea that they do not share their animals until just before the match is solidified. What other unique pairing can occur!I also liked the side romance of Ezzy's best friend Krisia. It could have used a bit of steam though. I expect the future will be very interesting for this pair of BFF ad their mates! This is a mixed narrative, giving over the POV to each of the main characters s well as the best friend and her mate.It was great getting into their heads.Really makes for a more engaging story. It was a new take on shifters for me, which is rare cause I read a lot of paranormal. I like the twists and can not wait to see what happens next in the series. I have been reading them for the last year, and really have gotten to know the residents of the Crossroads and the shifters who come there looking for love.I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kellie Kamryn, who has been hit and miss for me in the past. I like her voice and enjoy her read. The issue is the quality of the productions. She either sounds like she is in a cave or has a white noise in the background. It is annoying, but after a little bit you get used to things, I hope as she gains more experience she invests in some quality equipment. I want to enjoy the read and her performance, the production really keeps that from happening! There could have been a bit more steam but what there was was really hot and heavy!! Open bedroom door, with enough detail to get you hot and bothered.Loads of story going on and nicely paced. There was so much going on in this story, it really should have been longer with more detail. Things are very abbreviated.A quick and enjoyable read!*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Ok don't get me wrong for a free book I got forever ago it was a quick break from school holiday child madness that required absolutely no mental energy. I was hoping for a good growly possessive shape shifter alpha unfortunately that wasn't what I got.And normally I appreciate these books a little more but this one didn't work for me for 2 reasons and those are the insta love ( I am all for insta love and destined mates and such but this was literally insta same day marriage kinda thing and there just wasnt enough connection for me) But the major issue I had was the semi shapeshifted sex. Tara has renamed these fuzzy cock romance and sadly in this one I think we literally got one of those and that just made me feel more sqeemish that wet.But meh it was a free quickie so you know. Can't hate on it too hard :)

I stumble upon stuff, I read it - there are abs on the cover (abs are a good marketing move), and I'm allowed to be shallow from time to time and judge a book by its cover; I'm only human. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. This is one of the "don't" times. Owl's Fair (clever title - owl's fair, all's fair) is a short story and as such it's inevitable that it's... well, for lack of other words, short. You can't help that. There are, however, loads of short stories that make things work pretty well. This isn't one of those. Things weren't just rushed, they moved in the speed of light - you don't stand a chance here. Things are thrown your way, more often than not you don't understand where that bit of info came from. To me, Owl's Fair was an amateur read. No, not the French amateur but the English one, meaning "not really good...like, at all".

3.5 StarsMy first Shifter erotica! This was short, it had pacing issues, it did not flush out storylines, it did a lot of things wrong but I liked it!! A Bear/Owl shifter you can see from the cover of the book, its a coming together to find a mate, it all happens in a couple of hours. You don't have much to loose giving this a try, if you like it your in for quite a few more books to read in the series, and if you do not like it, it won't waste much of your time, about an hour.Overall I liked it(I'm typing this with a weird look on my face because I don't really know why I liked it) but I am not going to be recommending it to anybody ever lol. Maybe by the end of the series who knows :)

Loved itA fun, fast paced story of shifters finding their mates in a place called the Crossroads, with some help from the magic users community. Ezzy, an owl shifter, just turned 30 and her family is pushing her to find a mate. Her friend Krista, has a solution. A trip to the Crossroads.Buzz, a bear shifter, had been at the Crossroads for a few weeks and was about to give up and head home when Ezzy walked into the Cafe.A great story. Loved Krista and To bias.

64 pagesAs I’m cleaning out a few books from my Nook, I ran across this series in my library and wanted to update my Goodreads page so I’m re-reading. Why I spent so much money on books under 100 pages is beyond me, these should be be free or at most .99 and I won’t be purchasing any others after I clear the ones I own off my device.

I liked the shifter romance, but the magic user romance was creepy. I hated that he was required to have sex in public to take on the job of Guild Master. That was just gross. Aside from that bit it was a short but ok read.

Short but still really good. Good sex, some romance, and some action were fit well into the book. I look forward to reading more from the series and learning more about the different shifters.

I really enjoyed Ezzy and Buzz's story. I like the idea of different types of shifters forming relationships. This is a great start to a new series and I can't wait for the next one.
